Winter Wild Hog Hunting in the South Carolina lowcountry Was Fantastic!

We wrapped up 2026 deer season with lots of warm weather and acorns on the ground, however cold weather finally rolled to the South Carolina lowcountry by January and so did the good wild hog hunting! The cold temperatures and increased caloric needs of the pigs allowed us to see and shoot some great hogs this year, many around 200lbs.

We had lots of movement from that first week through the mid March, allowing our guests to hammer some good hogs before it warmed up and got super dry as Spring arrived. As a matter of fact, it was so cold here in South Carolina this year that we had 6 inches of snow the last weekend of January! That only happens about every 7 years here.

We also saw and missed many other hogs. But that is just to be expected with real fair chase/free-range hog hunting. Hogs don't stand still like deer do, and they also sit much lower to the ground, both of which make them tougher to shoot than what most hunters are used to. Then you have to factor in the fact that hunting at night is very new to many, which requires a lot of different equipment as well as getting comfortable not seeing what you are doing.

And while we are still not back on FB, I am hoping to have an update on our efforts getting us back on there soon too.
